My bucket list included publishing a children’s book. After spending a couple years learning how to draw, I finally published my first Koala Girl book “I Found a Rock” in 2020 via Amazon KDP.
It was inspired by my daughters’ obsession with rocks when they were young. They are a bit older now, but it is still not uncommon for me to find large rocks in their backpacks and pockets.
A year later, I was inspired to write and illustrate my second book “I am Glad You are You,” which was also self-published via Amazon KDP.
It was inspired by the tense political and cultural environment at the time. Making this book allowed me to feel helpful by contributing a learning opportunity for young kids on the topics of equity, respect, and inclusion.
